Soccer in the dark

Last night was the first soccer practice since the “fall back” time change. I *thought* we’d have enough time for a short practice before it got too dark but after the first 20 minutes we were losing kids in the dark. Clearly time to call it quits. We’ve got two games left in the season and I guess we’ll just skip practice from now on.

The worst part of last night was that when we ended practice I told our kids that it was time to go home. Unbeknownst to us the Big Girl raced off into the dark to stand by the parking lot and wait for us. Cue parents to begin frantic search of the darkened playground for a small girl in a navy blue jacket and shorts. Scared the living daylights out of us, just like it always does when one of them disappears for a few minutes.
